Critiquing is a constructive process in which one learns more through formulating their own opinion on another work of art. To critique, one must be attentive; one must take their time and be open to reflections (sometimes long reflections that would require going back).

A person critiquing should also not be very lazy with description since giving a critique needs to be very thoughtful and constructive. A critique is never systemic and executed following a methodology. A critic should state why work is excellent because of reasons a, b, c, and d.

A critic should also be very knowledgeable of elements of art form to be able to critique a work of art. These elements are the elements of art: Line, form, shape, texture, color, space, and value.

What I notice:

Sometimes I tend to critique a picture based on the artist’s intention. I found myself thinking that it would always make a lot of sense if I critiqued the picture for what it is instead of overthinking of what the intention behind it is.
